Southampton came out of the relegation zone after a convincing 3-1 win over Aston Villa. The battle between two teams fighting for survival was emphatically won by the Saints and sent Birmingham under the line. Aston Villa made an honorable shot 15 minutes before the end, when Jack Greilish sent a great shot into the top right corner of McCarthy. The Birmingham team tried to put pressure on the end, but this opened up spaces and the visitors could find another hit.
